Why don't New England towns and Conservative Republican values mix well?

Different methods of thinking. Conservatives concern themselves with building up their worldview and actively ignore or outright try to suppress any other worldview that threatens it (even if it is overall a better worldview). That sort of thinking does not work well in a setting where multiple worldviews and truths come together (cities and towns).
