Living with soon-to-be-husband who steals from me - what can I do?

I am going through a divorce and I have to live with my soon-to-be ex-husband. My ex has only a part-time job, and is not seeking full-time employment - I pay all the bills, and he just lays on the couch. I tried to get him out of the house, but our judge said she won't do that (or even plan to do that in the future) because he has nowhere to go...nevermind that if he had to leave, he might be motivated to take care of himself. Anyhoo, he has been taking my things...deliveries that come to the house, whatever he wants out of my bedroom. My lawyer says that the judge won't want to be bothered with petty things like this...I'm sorry it seems petty to her, but it's tough to live this way. If I got the police involved, could they help? My lawyer's solution was to take something of his! I don't want to escalate things...I just want it to stop. Any suggestions?
