Deadline for job descision past, no news... Should I follow up?
I had a second interview for a job two weeks ago and I was told all 4 final candidates would be notified by phone what the final decision by Friday the 24th. We were told specifically that we would be personally called because letters would take a long time to secure and 3 of the 4 candidates would need to plan relocation and they wanted us to know the decision as early as possible for all of us. I spoke to a source close to the decision maker and from what I gather, they had not arrived at a decision as of early this past week. This leads me to believe the decision making has gone into extra innings. While I was in the interview I made it clear I wanted the job and why. I told them I was not desperate for a job but instead just liked the position as a chance for professional growth. I sent emailed and hand-written thank you notes to the key players. I want to remain engaged but not sound desperate. Given the deadline for notification has passed, should I reach out and call for the status of the decision or just wait???
